You vote for one board: the one you support as an owner or tenant.
Most voters support the English public board, DSBN.
Catholic supporters vote for Niagara Catholic. Voters with French-language education rights may support Viamonde or MonAvenir.

Keep the board focused on student achievement and well-being.
Consult parents, students and supporters, and bring their concerns to the board.
Set board policy and multi-year plans, and oversee the board's senior leader.
Leave day-to-day school management to staff.

The Putting Student Achievement First Act, 2026 gives the province more oversight of Ontario school boards.

English boards' director of education becomes a chief executive officer, who appoints a chief education officer.
The CEO develops the board budget. Disagreements with trustees go to the Minister of Education.
Boards are capped at 12 trustees, and trustees lose most of their role in provincial bargaining.
The Minister can set student-achievement priorities and require boards to report results publicly.
French-language boards are largely outside these changes.
