Editorial policy
Welland Votes is an independently maintained, unofficial election guide. AI tools assist with research.
How information is checked
- The system compares claims with supporting sources, checking dates, wording and context.
- Council decisions need official records; campaign promises need attributable statements.
- During the mayoral research run, a separate AI agent reviewed another agent’s findings.
- Unsupported or unresolved claims are held back.
- Proposed updates include evidence and exact wording for review.
- After approval, sources are rechecked and published changes verified.
Candidate submissions are attributed, not treated as independent confirmation. Blank entries mean information hasn’t been included; profile length isn’t a ranking. Errors remain possible. Read the sources and confirm voting procedures with the City’s election office.
Corrections
Request a correction with the page, concern and supporting material, if available. Requests may prompt further research but don’t automatically change the site. Use the same form for privacy or photo-rights concerns. Only submit material you’re entitled to share.
Submissions and privacy
The form collects contact details, your relationship to the request, the relevant page, proposed changes and links. These support review, recordkeeping and replies. Submissions aren’t automatically public; follow-up contact details aren’t intended for publication.
Don’t send confidential records or unnecessary sensitive information. The map connects to OpenStreetMap; service providers may receive your IP address and browser details.
Use the form to request access, correction or deletion. Some records may need to be retained for editorial or legal reasons. Immediate deletion and absolute confidentiality cannot be promised.
