About this guide & editorial policy

Welland Votes helps residents compare candidates in Welland’s 2026 municipal election. It brings together public records, campaign material and source-linked summaries. It is an independent guide, not an official City of Welland or election-administration website.

Who maintains the guide

Matthew Baggetta maintains the guide. Questions, corrections and concerns can be sent through the correction form.

Sources and context

The guide uses public records, candidate websites and biographies, published reporting, and information submitted by candidates and residents. Source links identify the basis for individual statements. A campaign promise describes what a candidate proposes; it does not establish that the proposal is funded, feasible or accomplished. A candidate biography describes that candidate’s account of their experience.

Summaries necessarily leave out detail. Please read the linked source for its full wording, date and context. Information may change after it is checked. A blank entry means the guide has not included an answer; it does not mean a candidate lacks experience or has no position. Differences in profile length are not rankings or endorsements.

AI-assisted tools help with research, organization and drafting. They can make mistakes. Responsibility for what appears on the guide remains with its publisher; an automated result or source link is not, by itself, proof that a statement is accurate.

Corrections and responses

Candidates, campaign teams and residents can request a correction through the same form. Identify the page and the exact statement, explain the concern, and include a supporting source when available. If the issue is missing context, privacy, a photograph or your own experience, explain that concern even if you do not have a public link.

Requests are reviewed before changes are published. The publisher may correct, clarify, update or remove material when warranted. A request does not automatically result in an edit, and a prepared edit is not live until publication is confirmed. Substantive disputes should be assessed against the original record and relevant responses, rather than treated as established facts because someone submitted them.

Using the information

This guide provides general information to support your own research and voting decisions. It does not provide legal advice or official instructions about voter eligibility, registration, polling locations or election procedures. Confirm those details with the City of Welland’s election office.

The guide may contain errors or omissions and does not guarantee that its information is complete or current. External websites are maintained by their respective operators. Linking to a source does not endorse everything on that website. These limitations do not replace the publisher’s responsibility to assess corrections and publish responsibly.

Photographs and other material

Photographs, logos, quotations and other third-party material remain subject to their owners’ rights. A credit or link does not transfer copyright. If you believe material on the guide infringes your rights, identify the item, the original work, your connection to it, and the action you are requesting through the correction form.

When submitting a photo or other material for publication, tell us whether you created it or have permission to provide it for that use. Do not send material you are not entitled to share.

Submissions and privacy

The correction form collects your name, email address, relationship to the submission, the candidate or page involved, your requested changes, and any links you provide. This information is used to assess the request, maintain a review record and respond to you. Your submission is not automatically posted publicly. Information intended as a candidate-profile addition may be reflected in the public guide after review; contact details supplied solely for follow-up are not intended for publication.

Requests are stored using here.now and may be delivered by Web3Forms to the publisher’s Gmail inbox. AI-assisted review may also process relevant submission information. These services process information under their own terms and privacy practices. Do not submit identity documents, confidential records, sensitive personal information or information about others that is unnecessary to the correction.

Opening the interactive map connects your browser to OpenStreetMap’s tile service. The host and other service providers may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser information when providing the site. Following an external link takes you to another operator’s website.

To ask about access to, correction of or deletion of a submission, use the correction form. Some information may need to be retained to document editorial decisions or meet legal obligations. This notice does not promise immediate deletion or absolute confidentiality.
